Tshwane primary schools engage in Soshanguve for sports annual tournament

Nine primary schools around Tshwane gathered together at the giant stadium on Saturday, to an annual sports tournament organized by Tshwane school sports collaboration.

The event was attended by schools from Soshanguve, Winterveldt, Ga-Rankuwa, Attridgeville, Mabopane, Mamelodi, Mmakar and Orchards. Among the sports activities were soccer, rugby, tennis, netball, snooker, volleyball, chess and many other games.

Schools which were part of the event include Utando Primary School, Maropeng Primary School and many others.

The idea was to have fun, engage with the children friendship among the schools.

Matsobane Mosena, tournament director said they organised the sport tournament to promote sports in schools.

“Minister of sports and recreation, fikile Mbalula said there must be sports in schools,” he said.

The tournament also gave opportunity to young talented pupils to be recognised.

Abdul Mokgabudi, educator at the Orchard Primary School said the event will help his pupils to gain confident and be physically fit so that they can perform better in their studies.

“Sports in schools must be taken promoted because young children are the future professional sports athletes,” he said.

The different schools made the event possible by working together to make sure the kids get breakfast and lunch. To encourage the school kids to come in numbers, winners were awarded trophies and gold medals.

Moshate Huma, former teacher at Kopa Dilalelo Primary School said he came to the event to support his former school’s sports.
