Real Madrid lift trophy at Giant stadium

Real Madrid fought hard to ambush Moritile fc in the final of the Phinda Mzala annual tournament at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve on Sunday afternoon.

Two goals from Edwin Mashaba and Dumisani Dlamlendze were more than enough to hand real Madrid the trophy. Real Madrid came into the match knowing exactly what to do to end the match as early as possible.

They started the match at a very high speed, playing a counter attack but they failed to use their chances wisely. After a long period of dominance, Madrid managed to find the back of the net after Moritile fc’s defence failed to stop Tsepo Tsipi’s runs. Edwin Mashaba took a shot from the 18 area to make it 1-0 for Real Madrid 10 minutes before half time.

Moritile fc came back IN the second half with fire and they were rewarded with an equaliser in the 75th minute, a goal by Samual Ngobeni. Madrid however had the last say when Dumisani Dlamlendze took a close range shot to make it 2-1 in their favour.

After the match real Madrid coach Bucs Mathombeni said: “The match was tough but great. We deserved to win and we would like to thank Lucky Lekgwati for founding this tournament, he has a very good heart.”

On the other hand, Moritile fc coach Goodman Phosa, blamed his players for focusing more on the reef than the game.

Tsepo Tsipi, one of the players of the winning team, real Madrid, thanked his team mates for working together to claim the big victory. Tsegofatso Ngobeni, player of Moritile fc said they were very unlucky to lose the match.

More than 32 teams were involved in the tournament. The wining team Real Madrid received a trophy and a cash price of R55 000 for winning the tournament.

The tournament is founded by Orlando Pirates legend Lucky Lekgwati and sponsored by Media and Communications.
