Chiefs and Pirates legends visits Giant stadium



Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates legends visited the Giant stadium on Sunday afternoon to play against each other at the Phinda Mzala annual tournament.

The match started at a very high pace which saw two goals being scored in the first half. A goal by Benedict Vulakazi gave the Pirates legends a lead in the first half. It was not long when the Chiefs legends equalised through a long shot by Jabu Mahlangu.

The two sides went into the break with the score levelled after a very fast match. Both teams came back in the second half with fire but the game favoured the Orlando Pirates legends as they scored an early goal by a long range shot by Vulakazi.

Chiefs responded with fire when Jabu Mahlangu scored again to make it 2-2, ten minutes before full time. However Pirates scored their winning goal with Vulakazi’s magic inside the eighteen area which gave the win.

After the match Lekgwati said: “The match was great, W played very well and we want to thank the supporters for coming in numbers to support the tournament”. He said the main aim of the tournament is to give back to the community and to develop youngsters.

Keketso and Bishop Shikwane, from Media and Communication and sponsors of the tournament the tournament said the tournament gave youngsters an opportunity to express their talent. More than 32 teams from around the country participated in the tournament.

One of the fans, Themba Masilela who came to watch the tournament thanked the Chiefs and pirates legends for coming to Soshanguve to support the tournament.

The winning team was handed a trophy and a cash price of R55 000.
